Interview Workshop for Podcasters and Content Creators with CBC Reporter Ainslie MacLellan

CDAH is pleased to offer an informative workshop on conducting interviews for audio and video content creation with CBC reporter Ainslie MacLellan. Ainslie’s podcast series This is Montreal is but one example from her career as a journalist in Quebec. The workshop will offer examples, tricks of the trade, tips on preparing for interviews, and going off script.

The Community Digital Arts Hub encourages participants to come into our studio space for this workshop. We will open 30 minutes before the start of the presentation to network. A Q & A period will follow.

A 30-minute presentation on interviewing for podcasters and content creators will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A—a maximum of 30 people in studio. Video conference will be live-streamed. A link will be provided to those who sign up.

About the facilitator

Ainslie MacLellan is a CBC Montreal reporter and podcast host. She started her career as a researcher with the Quebec City morning radio show Quebec AM and has travelled the province as a current affairs and news reporter, from the Abitibi to the Magdalen Islands and the Eastern Townships to Nunavik.

A queer anti-capitalist performance, The Cloud grapples with environmental catastrophe related to the eponymous digital storage space. Interrogating our actions and the responsibilities we have as citizens, The Cloud tells a science fiction-fueled story with a satirical touch. It's a mind-blowing journey infused with a DIY punk spirit!

There are 3 exhibit times: 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm

Creator Club

The Creator Club is a space for emerging creators from CBC Quebec’s Creator Network to mingle in person, build relationships, and lead to future collaborations. 

Meetups are held at the Community Digital Arts Hub (CDAH) studio, 511-460 St. Ctherine West. During our 5 à 7, we view a new piece of content, and then have a post-screening Q&A. 

The Creator Club is a partnership between the CBC and CDAH, which aims to develop new voices and give top emerging video talent direction and a platform to share ideas and new work.

The CDAH studios are wheelchair accessible.

Regions Training Activities - Content Creation Practicals

Join facilitator Julian Stamboulieh for a three day training on Cameras, Lighting and Sound. Julian will lead participants through understanding cameras and camera settings, framing and composition, lighting types and set-ups, lighting terminology, and sound recording for content creation.

You’ll walk away with a better understanding of the technical elements of content creation, as well as a deeper knowledge on using what you already have and how to implement your new skills.

The workshops will be presented online and will fall on July 30th, 31st, and August 1st.

About the facilitator:
Julian Stamboulieh, born and raised in Montreal, began his media career as an actor and a freelance video editor in 2004. After receiving his BFA in Photography from Concordia University, and starting his company Beanduck Productions, he soon found himself in his directorial debut. In 2013, Julian created and directed LARPs, with both seasons acquiring 10+ international awards and 4+ million views. He has gone on to direct several award-winning short films. As an actor, Julian finds himself most often in the voice studio. Ranging from animation to video games to being a staple in Montreal's booming dubbing industry, he is always thrilled anytime he finds himself behind the microphone. Over the past several years, Julian has developed and taught several courses on filmmaking and acting, is currently sitting his third term on ACTRA Montreal Branch Council, and continues to create educational content on his YouTube channel "The Nerdy Filmmaker".

Photography Workshop

Community Digital Arts Hub's “Photography Workshop/Exhibition” is a unique opportunity for all women, non-binary/queer people of color, with lived experience as immigrants, newcomers and refugees in Montreal interested in photography.

The goal of the workshops is to explore self-identity through photography. Led by DémART recipient Pantea Pezeshkan, these interactive workshops focus on technical photography aspects as well as how to tell a story  – exploring our cultures, passions, and Montreal experiences through photography. The workshops will end with an exhibition vernissage featuring participant photographs.

This workshop will happen multiple locations around the city. For March 23rd, the workshop will take place at The Community Digital Arts Hub

Participants will get the option to choose one pose from the sitting, which will be edited by CDAH resident photographer Pantea Pezeshkan

Community members, Regional partner organizations, interested partners, or digital media makers are welcome to join the Community Digital Hub team in a live broadcast from its Montreal space for a studio tour and brief introduction to the resources offered through the new CDAH in the Regions project.

What to expect: a 30-minute presentation and Q & A that includes a 360 video tour of CDAH's Montreal studio, and an overview of the project including, training, workshops, internships, and mentorships offered through partnerships. Join us to find out how you or your organization can benefit from our resources!  

CDAH in the Regions supports the production of digital projects, increasing local content in Quebec’s regional communities. Together, these activities will increase the capacity to produce high-quality content for creation, promotion, artistic expression, and digital archiving. The Community Digital Arts Hub production team is committed to the content development of Quebec artists and the promotion of Quebec-produced digital media offerings.
